The very beautiful calm before the storm - with a typhoon blowing in from the south, Seoul lit up Saturday evening with one of the most beautiful sunsets of the year.

Seoul doesn’t get that many inspiring sunsets, so when they come, you’ve got to take advantage of them. I’d just stepped off the train from Busan when this was starting, and was lucky enough to get to the Hangang Bridge in time!

Gyeongbokgung Palace at night, seen from the roof garden of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History.

The roof garden is open late on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but Gyeongbokgung is lit up only a handful of times a year.
